If dietary changes are the key to losing weight, then an exercise program is essential for long-term weight maintenance. The key is the “long-term” part since there is no benefit to you joining a gym and meeting a personal trainer three times per week if you will simply burn out on the activity after two months.
Our fitness trainer evaluates the overall fitness of the patient, ensures there are no contraindications to resistance or aerobic training and assesses their attitude to exercise. Some people love to workout in a gym while others hate it. Some people like circuit-training classes to music and some live in rural settings and lack access to anything that is not on their property.
Exercise programs must be individually tailored and monitored through fitness logs to be successful. We start with a walking program that begins at 30 minutes per day with gradually increasing target heart rates. Our trainer has taught group and individual aerobics and resistance exercises. She will help you to design a program that is right for you, teach you how to exercise properly and adjust it over time to accommodate to your increasing endurance and muscle tone. |
