Nutritional planning is the cornerstone of a program whose goal is to achieve permanent and significant weight loss. As a person’s weight is determined by the difference in the energy taken in and the energy output, our first step is a thorough nutritional evaluation to determine the actual energy intake as well as each individual’s food likes and dislikes, eating habits, cravings, and dietary preferences. The energy one consumes (in kilocalories) is determined from a meticulously recorded dietary log. We will convert what and how much you eat from a three-day diary into average daily caloric intake. 
Our nutritional planning for the six month program is based on a patient’s initial weight, their metabolic rate (how many calories are burned in an average day) and their food preferences. Our program includes insightful and educational sessions with our dietician in which you will learn how to differentiate good quality foods from bad ones and make the correct nutritional choices in order to achieve a healthy outcome and permanently manage your weight. Using carefully designed menus and exchange lists that are tailored to each patient’s individual likes and dislikes permits long term compliance. |
